The meaning of Christmas

Twas after midnight on Christmas
and all through the land
Parents place gifts
in ways more than grand.
We eat the left cookies
and even drink warm milk
to try to keep the innocence
of our kids and their ilk.
The wonder of children
and the myth that they believe
reminds us of our youth
and our own Christmas Eve's.
Today tell the tale
of what this day is about
they should realize the reason
day in and day out.
For the day is not
about toys and gifts
instead it is special
for the spirits it lifts
A love shared between all
and peace so desired
of tranquility spread
and hope it's inspired.
